Why Nice Guys Should Finish First More Often

Posted on

We’ve all heard the phrase “nice guys always finish last”, usually from some guy who thinks he’s the sweetest, nicest guy in the world but just can’t ever seem to get the girl. For some reason, nice guys always seem to get relegated to the friend zone. Maybe it’s because they aren’t aggressive enough, and guys with that little extra bit of confidence that can sometimes border on cockiness end up sweeping in and overshadowing them. But maybe we’re missing out by not giving the nice guys of the world a chance. They might not seem as exciting as the “bad boy” types at first glance, but they have a lot to offer if we really get to know them. And those are the relationships that stand the test of time.

1. THEY CAN TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER.

Genuine nice guys would never expect you to do or be anything you aren’t comfortable with. If they are pursuing you, it’s because they want to, and if you return their interest, great, if not, they’ll be on their way.

2. THEY WON’T TAKE YOU FOR GRANTED.

Nice guys are actually happy to be in a relationship with you, specifically. They aren’t so cocky that they think could find some other girl just as good if you ever left them, so they’ll appreciate you a lot more.

3. WE NEED TO REINFORCE THAT CHIVALRY IS NOT DEAD.

The reason guys continue to be jerks is because we put up with it. We’ve put up with it for so long that nice guys have started to think we prefer douchebags, and have stopped being gentlemen. We can help change things by giving nice guys the positive reinforcement they deserve.

4. IF WE STOP GIVING IN TO THE LOSER, THE SPECIES WILL DIE OUT.

Once jerks realize their indifference and borderline-abusive behavior is no longer effective, their strategies will evolve. And that will be good for everyone.

5. THEY DESERVE TO GET THE GIRL.

Nice guys are the ones putting in the work to get to know you, and be the type of guy you want to be around, so why shouldn’t they reap the rewards?

6. THEY ARE TRUSTWORTHY.

Typically a nice person is also kind, generous, and honest. The nice guys aren’t the ones cheating on their girlfriends, and lying through their teeth. They do what they say they’re going to do, and you can rely on them.

7. THEY AREN’T TRYING TO BE SOMEONE THEY AREN’T.

The bad boy can sometimes have an air of cockiness that seems like an act. He thinks seeming indifferent gives him all the power, when it’s really the nice guy who’s open about his interest in you that will end up getting more dates.

8. THEY SEE WOMEN AS EQUAL.

Nice guys would love if you asked them out, and they have no problem with you being more successful than them. They’ll support you as an equal, and treat you like they’d treat a friend, not just a potential notch in their belt.

9. THEY DON’T BRAG.

Nice guys are humble. They work hard and are proud of their accomplishments, but you won’t see them taking every opportunity to talk about their big promotion, or “accidentally” flexing while talking about how much they can bench press.

10. THEY WON’T RUSH YOU.

Nice guys don’t have expectations attached to their actions. They don’t have a pre-determined schedule for how much effort they should have to put in before getting a blow job.
